Chaos has erupted in the Gauteng legislature almost like the scenes that unfolded in Parliament last week, according to a report.

The Star newspaper reported on Wednesday that ANC and EFF members hurled insults, allegations and vulgarities at each other during an official sitting of the legislature on Tuesday.

An Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) representative labelled the ruling party the "African National Criminals" and charged that they were responsible for looting the public purse.

EFF member Mandisa Mashego also accused human settlements MEC Jacob Mamabolo of giving government tenders to his ANC allies.

Mashego claimed that jobs for the construction of houses and sewer upgrades were allocated only to ANC members.

Other claims were also made, and all these angered the ANC.

The newspaper reported that community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane was heard telling EFF members they were being "overfamiliar" with them.

Nkosi-Malobane refused to leave the legislature after being instructed to by speaker Ntombi Mekgwe.

Mashego later withdrew her description of the ANC and the claims against Mamabolo.
