Mmusi Maimane's wife Natalie has dismissed rumours of a sex scandal in the DA.

According to News24, an anonymous email alleged that men in the DA were using female colleagues as playthings.

“There are men in the DA who have made it a special pastime to choose women in the party to be their playthings”, the email writer claimed.

The writer also claimed to be one such woman.

According to the report, the email names DA parliamentary leader and leadership hopeful Mmusi Maimane; his running mate for federal chairperson, Athol Trollip; his campaign canvasser and DA chief whip, John Steenhuisen; MP Gavin Davis, who is considered to be in Trollip’s inner circle; and DA CEO Paul Boughey.

When asked about the email, Maimane's campaign manager Geordin Hill-Lewis said "We reject it entirely, and suggest that congress delegates do the same."

According to The Daily Vox, the hashtag #DASexScandal and another variant, #DASexGate went viral on Saturday.
