SABC sings Hlaudi’s praise to the tune of R3 million

The SABC not only spends R3-million a year on its choir but it sings songs of thanks for national broadcaster’s boss‚ Hlaudi Motsoeneng‚ during staff meetings. According to the Democratic Alliance‚ the minister of communications Faith Muthambi revealed this in a reply to a parliamentary question and that some of the lyrics were “Hlaudi Motsoeneng reya o leboha” (“Hlaudi Motsoeneng we thank you”).Muthambi emphasised that the chief operations officer had not put pressure on the choir to sing his praises. “This verse was spontaneous and was not composed by the subject of the verse nor was it composed under his direction and or influence‚” she said.Internal SABC financial documents recently brought to light by the Sunday Times show the SABC faces a loss of R501-million in this financial year...
