Zuma to take part in summit in Tanzania

President Jacob Zuma‚ accompanied by Minister of International Relations and Co-operation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane‚ will participate in the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State Summit in Dar es Salaam‚ Tanzania‚ on Sunday‚ the Presidency said. The summit will discuss the political and security situation in Burundi‚ it said in a statement on Saturday.It added that the invitation to participate in the summit as a special guest was from Tanzanian president and current chair of the EAC Jakaya Kikwete in recognition of the pivotal role that President Zuma had played in the negotiations that had succeeded in bringing peace and stability to Burundi following the civil war in that country.“It will be recalled that Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa represented President Zuma at the EAC Summit in Dar es Salaam on 13 May 2015.“President Zuma’s participation in the Summit is indicative of the high importance that the President and the South African Government place on developments in Burundi‚” the statement said.-RDM News Wire..
