ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe has accuses Police Minister Nathi Nhleko of recklessness if he does not explain his statement regarding more security upgrades for President Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla homestead, according to a report.

Mantashe wants Nhleko to make clear which security upgrades he thinks still need to be put into effected at Nkandla for the presidents security, City Press reported on Sunday.

Mantashe told the newspaper it would be better if Nhleko gave a break-down of how much would be allocated to the different security measures.

Mantashe said that this would allow ordinary citizens to make up their minds on the necessity of the measures and if they were maintenance related.

City Press was told that during the recent alliance summit that ended on Wednesday between the ANC, the South African Communist Party and Cosatu, Mantashe suggested that the ANC should pay for the non-security- related upgrades at Nkandla on behalf of Zuma. That suggestion was rejected by the gathered delegates.

According to the newspaper the alliance partners resolve that the Nkandla matter needed to be finalised and that those who were found guilty of inflated the cost of the presidents home should be held accountable.
