First the varsity‚ then the city. That’s how the Democratic Alliance’s Yusuf Cassim greeted the election of its Students’ Organisation (Daso) candidate Kwena Moloto as president of the University of Pretoria Student Representative Council (SRC). Cassim saw Moloto as “affirmation from the Tukkies student body of the DA’s proposition for better student governance”.“This comes after Daso equally swept to victory at the University of Fort Hare‚ and now governs the SRC there‚” he said.Cassim said his party “also welcomes the election of a further four Daso candidates to the Tukkies SRC” on Wednesday‚ pointing out that‚ while “the vote is not yet counted for two outstanding SRC seats‚ with five seats already won by the DA we are conclusively the largest party represented on the 2015/2016 SRC”.“The momentum from this Tukkies election bodes well for the DA’s efforts to win the City of Tshwane in next year’s local government election‚” said Cassim. “The DA is set on winning Tshwane in 2016 to restore service delivery‚ to create jobs and to entrench freedom‚ fairness and opportunity for all.”..
