Solly Msimanga‚ Gauteng chairperson of the Democratic Alliance and a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature has been elected by the party as its mayoral candidate for Tshwane‚ one of the socalled “big five” municipalities the DA is hoping to win in the 2016 local government elections. The DA says the ANC’s support in the capital has steadily declined over past elections to less than 50% and the party believes it can win the metropolitan in next year’s local elections‚ with its mayoral candidate spearheading the party’s campaign for change.Msimanga‚ 35‚ who holds a National Diploma in Marketing Management as well as a BCompt degree from the University of Pretoria and held several senior management positions in the private sector before venturing into politics‚ promised to serve the people and bring about change if he becomes mayor of Tshwane. He added that he would make the Tshwane administration accountable‚ transparent and accessible to all.“I will ensure that every cent of public money is spent on programmes aimed at increasing access to services and opportunities for our people.“We will root out corruption and fire corrupt‚ incompetent and lazy officials who are only interested in their own personal enrichment and not improving the lives of residents.”..
