Parliament is re-vetting its officials, it said in a statement. The institution this week launched a programme to re-vet officials to determine their security competence.

The process is being facilitated by the State Security Agency.

"Parliament’s security policy requires all employees to undergo vetting and all staff appointments are subject to positive security clearance," Parliament said on Friday.

"In addition to actual vetting processes, the current programme focuses on security awareness of officials to sensitise officials about recruitment strategies used by intelligence agents, the minimum levels of vigilance required of officials and how to handle information responsibly."

This comes a day after Parliament announced that it had finished its investigation into the suspended head and deputy head of the Parliamentary Protection Services.

The investigation revealed allegations of breaches of security, insubordination and failure to carry out management responsibilities, Parliament said on Thursday.
