Tshwane metro police threaten to detain DA members if march goes ahead

The Tshwane Metro Police have rescinded permission for the Democratic Alliance to stage a protest march on Wednesday and have threatened to intervene and detain the party’s members if they proceed with the march‚ according to the DA mayoral candidate for Tshwane Solly Msimanga. He said this is after the City of Tshwane declined on Monday to send an official to accept a memorandum from the DA against the deplorable state of water delivery in Hammanskraal‚ intended for handover at the march.Msimanga charged that the rights of hundreds of thousands of residents in Hammanskraal north of the capital were being brazenly violated by the City of Tshwane which refused to supply clean drinking water to this community.“The DA’s march is to pressure the City of Tshwane to desist form ignoring the plight of Hammanskraal residents‚ and this refusal to accept our memorandum is a great disrespect to the people of Hammanskraal.“We will therefore tomorrow hold a picket outside the Tshwane Region 2 Municipal office and will present our memorandum to the media there‚” Msimanga stated...
