'Black Like Me' founder Herman Mashaba in race to be DA Joburg mayoral candidate

Leading businessman Herman Mashaba has offered himself as Democratic Alliance mayoral candidate for Johannesburg‚ pledging to end what he calls two decades of mismanagement by the African National Congress (ANC). The DA still has to conclude its formal selection process‚ but it is understood Mashaba has the support of the party leadership nationally and in Gauteng‚ and is understood to be a shoo-in.“For too long‚ I have watched from the sidelines how corrupt and self-serving ANC politicians have mismanaged Johannesburg‚ which is Africa’s most vibrant economic powerhouse‚” Mashaba said in a statement released this morning."I believe it is time for honest and hardworking people to make themselves available for public service. Therefore‚ I am prepared to throw 100% of my effort into being the DA mayoral candidate‚”said Mashaba‚ who is the founder of beauty products company Black Like Me.Mashaba listed combating unemployment‚ corruption‚ mismanagement and the lack of leadership encapsulated in the overnight firing of Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene as the main reasons why he was persuaded to run for Joburg mayor...
