Tshwane speaker faces test as ANC councillors threaten to ‘moer’ cops

The speaker of the City of Tshwane’s council is faced with a serious dilemma which could set the tone of the relationship the Democratic Alliance (DA) will have with opposition over the next five years. Rachel Mathebe had to consult with staff and advisers on whether to bring in police or security guards into chambers when African National Congress (ANC) councillors refused to leave the chamber after she ordered them to do so.
