DA to announce Cape Town mayoral candidate on Monday

The Democratic Alliance will on Monday announce its mayoral candidate for Cape Town in the coming local government elections. The DA won the last elections in the Mother City in May 2011 with an outright majority‚ taking 135 of the 221 council seats to the ANC’s 73 seats.The DA’s mayoral candidate for the metropolitan will be announced by the party’s leader‚ Mmusi Maimane‚ who will be joined by DA national spokesperson Phumzile Van Damme and DA Cape Metro chairperson Shaun August. The candidates who will appear before the party’s electoral college include the incumbent executive mayor Patricia de Lille‚ as well as Guy Andrews‚ Daniel Jacobs‚ Peter Meakin and Ursula Schenker...
