ANC national chairperson Baleka Mbete on Saturday accused members of the DA of being racist. Mbete was speaking with Eye Witness News at a rally in Grabouw where the party celebrated its 104 birthday.

"We know who is racist. We know where racism is deeply steeped. The members of the DA are the ones who have illustrated who is racist...

"We are not saying that some of our people are not racist... but it is in the DA that a lot of cleaning up must happen.

"They must clean up their own house and leave the leadership to us," said Mbete.

Mbete also said it was important for the ANC to lead in all South African provinces.

"Only the ANC has the policies that really address issues of our people... and has the kind of leadership that is going to effect radical transformation and ensure that the socio-economic challenges that still remain are dealt with fundamentally and thoroughly," she said.
