EFF invites ‘members of the media’ to plenum - unclear if that includes Gupta reporters

Hashtags will feature prominently at the Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Annual Plenum‚ which kicks off in Benoni on Friday.The opposition party issued a “press alert” that invites “members of the media to a photo shoot” at the event at the The Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre.The statement did not say if journalists working for the The New Age and ANN7 would not be welcome or not‚ as stated by EFF leader Julius Malema on Thursday.In his attack on President Jacob Zuma and his relationship with the Gupta family‚ Malema warned "Sisters and brothers in Gupta firms we love you and don't want you to be casualties."We cannot guarantee the safety of those printing New Age and ANN7."The New Age editor Moegsien Williams replied by saying “Malema is our very own Donald Trump” and his newspaper will not report on the EFF if the party cannot guarantee the safety of his reporters.He declared that the EFF’s attack on journalists employed by the Gupta family at The New Age and television channel ANN7 was “a declaration of war”.Today’s plenum “will deal with strategic and programatic questions on the elections campaign‚ the #PayBackTheMoney campaign‚ The #GuptaMustGo campaign‚ the annual #EconomicFreedomMarch‚ land occupation‚ Parliament‚ legislatures and many more”.A march on the National Assembly‚ announced for February 11 to coincide with Zuma’s State of the Nation Address is likely to be discussed too.Malema on Thursday urged people to join the march and tweet from the frontline.The plenum will bring “together the Central Command Team‚ Provincial Command Teams‚ Regional Command Teams and ground forces from across South Africa to discuss the annual programme of the EFF”...
