Make Fort Hare a free university: EFF

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said the University of Fort Hare's centenary should be honoured by making it "free for all academically deserving students". "Let the dream of free quality education be realised first in this university‚" said EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Quintin Ndlozi."We call on government to do this as a form of honouring the legacy of all the students of this university who have went on to serve black people selflessly‚ both domestically and abroad. Free education in Fort Hare is the only true honour this government can give in memory of its hundred years of existence."Ndlozi said the jubilee marked a "hundred years of the struggle for African autonomy in pedagogy‚ research and intellectual development" and listed its "protest history is cause to celebrate products like Robert Mugabe‚ Julius Nyerere‚ Kenneth Kaunda‚ Joshua Nkomo‚ Nelson Mandela‚ Govan Mbeki‚ Robert Sobukwe‚ Chris Hani‚ Lionel Ngakane‚ Archibald Campbell Jordan‚ Mary Malahlela‚ Sam Nolutshungu‚ Desmond Tutu to mention a few".The Presdency last week announced that national celebration of the centenary of twill take place on of May 20...
