Cape Town's day of marches began on a downbeat note when the first of three demonstrations linked to tonight's State of the Nation address was called off.The marches were due to start at 9am on Thursday with a Democratic Alliance gathering in the Cape Town CBD. But DA spokesperson Phumzile van Damme confirmed the cancellation on Twitter. She replied to a tweet about the three marches on Wednesday evening‚ saying: "This is incorrect‚ there is no DA march tomorrow".The City of Cape Town had approved a gathering of 500 people. The other two marches are set to go ahead as planned‚ with the Ses Khona People's Rights Movement protest starting at around noon‚ approved for 1‚500 people‚ and Zuma Must Fall supporters meeting in Greenmarket Square from 1pm with 5‚000 expected marchers.- TMG Digital/The Times..
