The Congress of the People (Cope) on Monday challenged (African National Congress) ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe‚ its deputy secretary Jessie Duarte and deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas to break their silence and tell the country the whole truth regarding the offer to give Jones the job of Minister of Finance. The Sunday Times revealed on Sunday that members of the Gupta family along with President Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane Zuma met with Jonas at a Sandton hotel to offer him the top finance post‚ weeks before Nhlanhla Nene was dismissed.“Whether the ANC wants to admit it or not‚ Mr Zuma’s relationship with the Gupta family has become a hot potato. No president of a country should have such close ties with a business family that it can interfere with the running of the state. Such a relationship is unholy‚” Cope spokesperson Dennis Bloem said.In a statementm the party said they agreed with former president Kgalema Motlanthe that no judicial inquiry can fix the problem. Motlanthe said that issue need to be “dealt with directly” and that judicial inquiry on the state capture will be a waste. – TMG Digital..
