Suspended Independent Police Investigative Directorate boss Robert McBride said he was "feeling good" on Tuesday as he strolled into the National Prosecuting Authority’s Specialised Commercial Crimes Unit offices on Tuesday.

McBride and two others were summoned to the offices to be charged with fraud and defeating ends of justice.

McBride‚ Matthew Sesoko and Innocent Khuba are being investigated by the Hawks’ Crimes Against the State unit.

The unit's mandate is to investigate cases such as terrorism‚ which could pose a threat to the state.

Their lawyers received an SMS from the head of the unit‚ Brigadier Nyameka Xaba‚ for the trio to report to the offices at noon on Tuesday to be charged.

The charges against McBride‚ Sesoko and Khuba relate to the investigation of the former head of the Hawks‚ Lieutenant-General Anwa Dramat.

Dramat was accused of being involved in the illegal rendition of Zimbabwean nationals.

McBride found him innocent.

The findings of the last report that McBride signed allegedly contradicted an earlier report in which Dramat was found guilty. – TMG Digital/The Times
