Zuma appoints Winnie lawyer to Judicial Service Commission
Mvuzo Notyesi‚ a Mthatha attorney who represented Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in her claim on Nelson Mandela's Qunu house‚ has been appointed to serve as a member on the Judicial Service Commission by President Jacob Zuma.
The JSC's function is to select fit and proper candidates for appointment as judges and to investigate complaints about judicial officers. It also advises government on any matters relating to the judiciary or to the administration of justice.
The presidency issued a brief statement on the appointment on Wednesday‚ saying Notyesi had been nominated from within the Attorney’s profession for the position. He replaces Bubelwa Ndzondo.
"President Zuma wishes Mr Mvuzo all the best in his new responsibilities and also wishes Ms Ndzondo all the best in her future endeavours‚" the statement read.
Notyesi‚ who has a B Proc‚ LLB from the University of Transkei‚ is a practicing attorney specialising in constitutional and administrative law.
