Clash of the Choirs judge Zwai Bala became the subject of ridicule on Twitter on Wednesday morning after he called out EFF leader Julius Malema for referring to Baleka Mbete‚ speaker of the National Assembly‚ by her first name at a parliament sitting on Tuesday. “Most SAns have a stance on the local politics & have every right to express their views. But as Africans‚ respect is standard & inexcusable‚” Zwai tweeted.ANC politicians called out by EFF's Malema DID vote to keep Zuma in officeHe added that the move showed major disrespect. “And for Julius to disrespectfully call Ms Mbete by her first name can never be correct by African standards. Irresponsible of a leader.”ANC parliamentary caucus to respond on ‘impeachment motion’As a result‚ outraged Twitter users attacked the musician‚ accusing him of siding with the ANC and so-called “backwards thinking”.@CadreFloyd@Mmalenyalo_ he needs one— TellThem (@TellThemTour) April 6, 2016BalaMy only advise to Zwai Bala is to "Listen to superior knowledge,." pic.twitter.com/StImUCcTcD— IG: AdvBarryRoux (@Barry_Roux) April 6, 2016BalaAdding to the backlash was EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi‚ who also gave Zwai a lashing on the social media networking site.1. Most, if not all, cultures seek to accord 'respect' by prefacing your name, thus it's not essential to "Africa" https://t.co/KkdpqSgtiO— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 6, 2016Bala2. So it has to do with being respectful, rather than being "African".Now question is;why should Mbete be respected? https://t.co/KkdpqSgtiO— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 6, 2016Bala3. In your myopic logic you suggests that a person deserves respect because they are old. Not mature, but old! https://t.co/KkdpqSgtiO— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 6, 2016Bal4. Mbete violated the constitution & refuses to comply with the requirements. She does not deserve respect! https://t.co/KkdpqSgtiO— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 6, 2016Bala5. What is irresponsible is affording respect to a speaker who shows no respect to the supreme law of the country https://t.co/KkdpqSgtiO— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 6, 2016Source6. The standard for judging Mbete is the constitution, not some ageist idea masquerading as African Culture! https://t.co/KkdpqSgtiO— Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@MbuyiseniNdlozi) April 6, 2016width..
