DA’s metro mayoral hopefuls to give joint briefing

The mayoral candidate for the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) big prizes in August’s local government elections will on Tuesday “brief the media on the extent of financial mismanagement under the African National Congress (ANC) in their metro municipalities". Appearing for the opposition will be Nelson Mandela Bay’s Athol Trollip‚ Johannesburg’s Herman Mashaba‚ Tshwane’s Solly Msimanga and Ekurhuleni’s Ghaleb Cachalia.“The DA is set on winning metros and municipalities across South Africa‚ and is ready to implement financial recovery plans so that these municipalities can begin to deliver for the people‚ rather than for a connected few cadres‚” a party statement said ahead of the meeting in Rosebank.“Jointly‚” it continued‚ they “will contrast what ANC financial failings have cost their metros‚ and will table plans to turn around their metro finances once in office after the August 3 elections”. – TMG Digital..
