Zuma to lead International Children’s Day celebrations

President Jacob Zuma will lead the national celebrations of the International Children’s Day at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville‚ Pretoria‚ on Wednesday. The Presidency said the International Children’s Day is observed annually on June 1 around the world to honour children’s rights according to the proclamation of the 1925 World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva‚ Switzerland. In South Africa‚ the day also coincides with the Child Protection Week Campaign which this year is observed from Monday until Friday under the theme “Let Us All Protect Children to Move South Africa Forward”. The Child Protection Week campaign is organised to mobilise society to protect‚ develop and nurture children.Zuma is scheduled to visit and officially open a media centre at the Kingdom Life Children's Centre and later interact with the community at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville...
