He called on the African National Congress to get its house in order because the protests were “tantamount to political intolerance and it doesn’t benefit anybody”.
- Take your fight to Luthuli House‚ DA tells Tshwane protestersThe mayoral candidate for the Democratic Alliance (DA)‚ Solly Msimanga‚ has called for angry African National Congress (ANC) members to take their frustrations to Luthuli House‚ which made the decision about who should be its mayoral hopeful in Tshwane.
The party has gained supporters in the area since they last went to the polls.
- IEC says it can’t get involved in ‘internal party matter’ that led to Tshwane riotsAs protests engulfed townships in the Tshwane region on Tuesday‚ the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) has appealed to voters and political parties to respect the rule of law and rights of others.
"We want a peaceful election‚ not this. We want to be able to go to the ballot to determine who will be the mayor of Pretoria and who will govern Tshwane. A divided house like the ANC doesn’t determine anything. They are in denial if they think they can do this. It just brings violence and shuts down the freedom of movement that we all need right now‚" he said.
