The Hawks earned a nod from Parliament’s police oversight body. “The Portfolio Committee on Police has applauded the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) for its operation which led to the arrest of four suspected terrorists in Johannesburg this past Saturday‚” chairperson Francois Beukman said.From DJ to 'terror twin'It took a year for police to investigate identical twin brothers and a sibling duo allegedly linked to plots to attack the US embassy in South Africa and Jewish institutions. Beukman also commended “the role played by the South African Police Service (SAPS) specialised units in the operation”‚ and said “it is the duty of all South Africans to assist the DPCI and the SAPS to ensure the safety of all communities”.“According to reports‚ the arrests were made on Saturday. The alleged suspects were flying to Syria‚ but were refused access after the airline they were going to use was informed of their intentions‚” the committee statement noted...
