Don't take photos or selfies with your marked ballot papers. That's the warning from the Independent Electoral Commission provincial electoral officer Mawethu Mosery in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday. Mosery was speaking at a state of readiness press briefing ahead of the country's local government elections on August 3. "It's illegal because it compromises the secrecy of the ballot‚" he said. He said the IEC has geared itself up for the unlikely scenario of a 100% voter turnout during the polls. "There are 5.4-million registered voters in the province and we do expect they will all turn up to vote judging by the excitement out there. We have prepared... as is all 5.4-million will arrive to vote‚" said provincial electoral officer Mawethu Mosery said on Wednesday afternoon. Mosery said that with exactly two weeks to go before the poll‚ everything was on track. "We are left with only three activities‚ two of which are the special voting days on August 1 and 2‚ and the voting day itself‚" he said‚ adding that the final ballot papers were being printed and would be delivered before the end of next week. "There will be 54 000 staff members manning our voting stations‚ who will work with about 930 area managers who will supervise a number of voting stations. We will still continue with our voter education over the next 14 days‚ particularly focusing on the ballot paper‚" said Mosery...
