Opposition parties united in mourning Stofile

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) noted the “sacrifice and contribution to the struggle” made by Makhenkesi Stofile‚ who died on Monday.The Congress of the People (Cope) similarly lauded him as “one of the liberation leaders who fought and made enormous sacrifices for the great freedom that we enjoy today”.The Democratic Alliance greeted the news “with sadness” and conveyed condolences to “Stofile’s family and to the African National Congress (ANC) on his passing”.The EFF “sends its revolutionary condolences…to the family‚ friends and comrades of Makhenkesi Stofile‚ whose credentials as an anti-apartheid activist‚ former premier of the Eastern Cape and minister of sports are unquestionable”‚ said spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.“The generations to come will forever be grateful for his sacrifice and contribution to the struggle against apartheid. Makhenkesi Stofile's passing comes when he was now serving as ambassador of South Africa to Germany‚” he said.“We send our condolences also to the ANC for the loss of their comrade and leader. May his soul rest in perfect and revolutionary peace.”Cope’s Dennis Bloem said “his passing is not only a loss to his family‚ but a loss to the entire country”.“A very big tree has fallen‚” he said‚ adding that his party extends “sincerest condolences to his family‚ comrades‚ friends and his political party the ANC”.“May the lord receive his soul with favour for he made his days count in the service of the nation.” – TMG Digital..
