No corruption and free Black Like Me for all – Twitter welcomes new #JoburgMayor

The country’s economic hub woke up on Tuesday to a DA-led administration and the new #JoburgMayor trending on Twitter.

Herman Mashaba‚ the party’s businessman candidate‚ on Monday night beat ANC incumbent Parks Tau in the race to lead the city‚ after a lengthy voting process at the inaugural council meeting for the new term.

Topping the tweets helping the hashtag trend was Rand Daily Mail‏@rdm_za’s link to a story about the new mayor’s stated priority: “New #JoburgMayor Mashaba: 'As of this evening‚ corruption is public enemy number one' http://bit.ly/2bgwjqg”.
