ANC sabotaged community meeting: Mashaba

The executive mayor of the City of Johannesburg‚ Herman Mashaba‚ has blamed the African National Congress (ANC) for the disruption of a community meeting he had in Orange Farm. In a statement released by his office‚ Mashaba says he was scheduled to meet a community to discuss issues of land‚ housing and service delivery on Monday.“Upon arrival it was clear that a small group of ANC members‚ transported in‚ were intent on disrupting the meeting which was well attended by genuine members of the community‚” he said.“The hall had been flooded‚ the gate had been chained with a padlock and rubbish was strewn all over the hall. Upon trying to start the meeting‚ ANC members entered the hall‚ disrupting the meeting.“In attempting to proceed with the meeting‚ ANC members entered the hall and disrupted proceedings. I was forced to leave a hall that was filled with community members that only wanted an opportunity to be heard.”Mashaba claims that he has in good authority that the “disgraceful actions” were directed by one of the ANC councillors in the area.The Joburg mayor has written to the chief whip of council to start an investigation into the matter.Efforts to get comment from councillor implicated on the incidents were unsuccessful. – TMG Digital..
