EFF goes to court to force Madonsela to release state capture report

“It is important that the people of South Africa be informed and be aware of the extent of the Guptas’ control of the South African government through their capture of the state.” That is the reason given by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) for approaching the North Gauteng High Court on Friday morning to oppose Co-operative Governance Minister Des van Rooyen’s application to prevent Public Protector Thuli Madonsela releasing her report.The EFF is joined in the counter-application by the United Democratic Movement and Congress of the People. Cope spokesperson‚ Dennis Bloem‚ told TMG Digital that the opposition parties had decided to work together as “South Africa needs to know what is in that report … what Jacob Zuma and his cronies are so desperate to hide”.“The EFF will also oppose Mr Jacob Zuma's application for an interdict‚” said spokesperson Fana Mokoena.The president sent a notice of his intention to interdict Madonsela on Thursday‚ but that court date is set down for Tuesday.“The EFF will also request the court to compel the public protector to release the preliminary report on the complaint that the Gupta family has captured the state for its own corrupt benefits‚” said Mokoena.Madonsela threatened me, Jacob Zuma claimsPresident Jacob Zuma claims Thuli Madonsela threatened him and that is why he applied to have the courts stop her from releasing her report into allegations of state capture. “The EFF is of the view that none of the applications for a court interdict hold water because the applicant will not suffer irreparable damage as there still exists an option for a judicial review of the findings and remedial actions of the public protector.“South Africa cannot wait for another day to know what are the corrective measures on the phenomenon of State capture‚ which has been manifested in the recent past through the senseless criminal charges against Minister of Finance (Pravin Gordhan) rand the Commander in Chief of the EFF Julius Malema.” Malema was on Thursday served with a summons to stand trial for urging his supporters to invade land‚ in charges under the Riotous Assemblies Act.It was served just after Malema announced a mass march which will coincide with Gordhan’s first appearance on fraud charges...
