ANC calls on volunteers to assist after flash floods in Gauteng

The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng said on Thursday that its sends “condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives from the flash floods”.

A statement said its provincial chairperson‚ Paul Mashatile‚ had “in his capacity as acting premier last night activated the Joburg Disaster Management Centre to co-ordinate efforts investigating the extent of the damage and the need for assistance”.

“The team‚ led by the ANC provincial government‚ will also look at houses and informal settlements in Alexandra and other affected areas‚ particularly those along the Juksei River‚” it read.

It said the provincial government is also “ready to assist all the affected people and calls on volunteers of the ANC to get into communities and assist neighbours that have experienced the worst of this weather”.

“Together we are stronger‚ and united we will conquer this disaster.”
