“It is through you‚ Speaker‚ that I today ask that all members of this esteemed council (to) support my request seeking the extension of the appointment of the incumbent acting city manager for the purposes of allowing the panel to further apply its collective mind diligently ahead of the appointment of a permanent city manager for a further 60 days‚” said Msimanga.

“This is for the sole purpose of ensuring that that no mistakes are made because it is ultimately in the best interests of the people of Tshwane‚ whom ought to be at the apex of all our consciousness when making critical decisions and appointments such as this one.”

Msimanga appointed Lisa Mangcu as acting city manager in Tshwane following the resignation of municipal manager Jason Ngobeni in August. Mangcu has served as deputy city manager for more than 10 years.

Meanwhile‚ in the Mogale City council‚ candidates were put forward on Wednesday morning to replace Democratic Alliance mayor Lynn Pannall who resigned last week due to ill health. Voting has begun to replace her.
