Brian Molefe’s tearful departure‚ jubilant return and imminent forced departure from his position at the helm of Eskom had sparks flying on Twitter.

South Africans have responded to the debacle with humour and scorn.

The question on everyone’s mind right now is: what is Molefe to do? Is this the end of the road for him or will be back?

Last year in the State of Capture report it was found that Molefe had close ties with the infamous Gupta family.

Former mining minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi also dropped a bombshell‚ claiming that Molefe and Eskom board chairman Ben Ngubane had tried to make him blackmail Glencore so that the Gupta family could take over its subsidiary‚ Optimum coal mine. Molefe has denied all allegations.

Twitter is having a field day.

Public enterprises minister Lynne Brown was also not spared a roasting.

The country was watching with anticipation to see how events unfold on Thursday when the board of Eskom is due to meet.
