Bozza offers free SA music, poetry on mobile
Over 300 artists, film makers, and poets have started self-publishing using the mobile app Bozza, which allows them to earn 50% of the revenue share off their channels.
Bozza's proof of concept was launched in November 2010 and had over 40 000 downloads in its first three days. The company aims to have each channel become a digital shop front where people can give their content away for free, but also sell things like merchandise and tickets for gigs.
According to Bozza's media statement the app is aimed at feature phones, and has plans to optimise for smart phones by mid 2012.
Emma Kaye, founder and CEO of Bozza, says: “Mobile has huge socio-economic, educational, commercial, societal and individual significance. Emerging economies have been hugely resourceful in using mobility in socio-economically important ways, to empower micro enterprises.
"By embracing mobility as a content delivery platform, emerging countries or continents can leapfrog developed economies, establishing a unique societal brand in a vibrant new industry.”
