Two rhinos, a mother and a calf, have been killed by poachers in a Limpopo reserve, police said.

Tzaneen police spokeswoman Major General Maggy Mathebula said the two rhinos were found in the Tiergarten Wildlife Reserve near Letsitele on Thursday.

Both had been shot and their horns removed.

Last year, two rhinos were killed and dehorned in the same reserve, which covers 8000 hectares.

In 2011, 448 rhino were killed in South Africa.

According to Stop Rhino Poaching Now more than 30 rhinos have been poached in South Africa so far this year.
