Visitors to the Karoo National Park can stroll down a new fossil trail and explore the traces of prehistoric history in the South Africa semi-desert.

South African Tourism says the nature trail is a collective project between the SANParks national park service and the University of the Witwatersrand.

The fossils will be used to explain how natural forces formed the geology of the landscape. The fossil trail is accessible for the disabled and free of charge.

It's located near the national park's self-supporter apartments.
