The AOC D2769Vh monitor is actually quite good value for its price.

At a recommended retail price of R4,650, the screen is maybe not a bargain but quite competitively priced considering its passive 3D capabilities, and the fact that it is a 27 inch screen.

Okay, the likelihood that you are ever going to use 3D isn’t that great, but it is still an added feature.

Particularly as the screen doesn’t require added software to make the 3D work – though that said downloading some 3D enabling software is still recommended.

The screen's design is simple and looks good, but I found the build quality a bit under par – touching the corners of the screen I could feel a bit of give on the plastic at the back.

The glossy finish on the screen is attractive, but I noticed a bit of glare when using it by the window in the morning. It wasn’t bad – but it was noticeably worse than the screen I usually use in that regard.

I have seen some claims that the screen tends towards a bluish colour balance – but I didn’t notice that. Colours appeared rich and details were clean and clear.

The backlighting was even, and worked well.

There are higher resolution options on the market right now, but given the price the AOC D2769Vh is well worth considering.

A paper manual would have been nice – but it is so easy to install that the fact that it doesn’t come with one feels more like a niggle or vendetta against trees than anything real.

Overall this is one of those cases where reviewing can be an expensive business – sometimes you get a product to play with and you end up wanting to buy one just like it.

Unfortunately it is only scheduled for release in South Africa, in the first quarter of 2015.

You can check out its full specs on AOC's website.
