Richards Bay residents have sighted hippos around the Mzingazi Lake‚ both on land and in the water.

“The hippos are often seen around Mzingazi Lake. They normally go out of the lake to give birth. They are usually sighted from Green Africa Nursery to the Bayhall using Mzingazi canal. If residents see the hippo next to the road they must inform KZN Wildlife and refrain from stopping as that might be dangerous.

“The hippos are normally spotted in the evening around seven o’clock or during the day at Mzingazi Canal inside the water‚” said Mntambo.
