The spate of tweet fallouts recently showed that we should all watch our tongues, or thumbs.
English cricketer Kevin Pietersen tweeted: "Done for rest of summer! Man of the World Cup T20 and dropped from the T20 side too. It's a f*** up." Pietersen could now face disciplinary action.
Talk Radio 702 news editor Katy Katopodis' tweet, "Just spotted Charles Nqakula littering. He threw a piece of paper (chocolate wrapper, I think) out of his shiny black Jaguar. How NOT to LeadSA!", landed her in trouble when the former minister of safety and security challenged the allegation live on radio. Katopodis admitted she could not confirm it was Nqakula who threw the litter out of the car, and he could not confirm he did not.
Actor John Cusack tweeted to 210000 followers, "I am for a Satanic death cult centre at Fox News HQ", in response to a fan who asked whether he supported the construction of the so-called Ground Zero mosque in New York. Fox News, accused of reporting negatively on the mosque, was not amused, saying the tweet could have incited violence.
