Jonathan Vandiar scored a half-century as the Lions thumped the Warriors by eight wickets in the Twenty20 Challenge fixture at St George's Park last night.

Set a comfortable target of 135 to win, the Lions cruised to their second consecutive victory thanks in part to an unbeaten 56 off 53 balls from the left-handed Vandiar.

Neil McKenzie added 31 not out as the Lions handed the Warriors one of their biggest defeats at this ground in recent years.

In Paarl, a rare individual century was not enough as the Impi slumped to a third successive defeat, losing by 40 runs against the Cobras at Boland Park.

Khayelihle Zondo fought a lone battle for his side by carrying his bat to end unbeaten on 100 off 63 balls. The Impi ended on 171 for six, with Dane Piedt (2-26) and Johann Louw (2-22) the pick of the bowlers.

Half centuries earlier from Stiaan van Zyl and Dane Vilas helped the home side amass a hefty 211/4, with Proteas fast bowler Vernon Philander also shining.

An outstanding innings of 82 off 49 balls by Cody Chetty helped the Dolphins to secure an eight-run victory over the Knights in Bloemfontein.

The Dolphins won the toss and batted first, posting a total of 184 for six. Chetty shared a fifth wicket partnership of 76 with David Miller, who showed welcome signs of a return to form with 40 off 25 balls.

Mthokozisi Shezi struck with his second ball to dismiss Knights captain Morne van Wyk for four, and the Knights were up against it throughout their innings despite half centuries from Rilee Rossouw and Ryan Bailey.

Imran Tahir was the pick of the Dolphins bowlers, taking two wickets for 29 runs.

The Knights needed 19 runs from the last over, which was bowled by Robbie Frylinck, but managed to score only 10.
