Former Olympian and Princess of Monaco, Charlene Wittstock, has offered to host the South African Olympic swimming team at no cost, ahead of the London games, Eyewitness News Sport reported.

The radio news service quoted South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee CEO Tubby Reddy as saying the princess would allow Swim SA to base its operations in Monaco free of cost from June 1.

"We only have to cover travel expenses. She will take care of everything else. She'll provide the facility, nutrition and accommodation," said Reddy.

Swim SA is in financial strife following the exit of a major sponsor and problems with Lotto funding. Recently, Sascoc called for financial assistance.
