A wonder goal from Khama Billiat handed Mamelodi Sundowns a 1-0 victory over their closest challengers Bidvest Wits last night and kept the newly crowned champions on course for a record haul of points. With the league title already decided and Wits secure in second place, this game was for pride. But it was also enough to ensure high tempo and great skills.Sibusiso Vilakazi, who Pitso Mosimane has been purring over for seasons, was back at his best in leading Wits, but Billiat stole the limelight.Following on his stupendous long-range goal on Saturday in the African Confederation Cup, the Zimbabwean hit another from distance, banging the ball from halfway inside the attacking half. It looped over Moeneeb Joseph and into the Wits goal.It seems nothing could go wrong for Sundowns , as they bagged a seventh win in their past nine league outings and moved to 68 points, one short of the record Kaizer Chiefs set last year for the most points in a season since the PSL was reduced to 16 teams. At the other end of the table, University of Pretoria slipped to the bottom of the log after they drew 2-2 with Polokwane City at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.Maritzburg United moved to 15th position after beating Ajax Cape Town 1-0 at Harry Gwala Stadium. The KwaZulu-Natal side have 24 points, one behind Jomo Cosmos, who lost 1-0 to Lamontville Golden Arrows.Missing star striker Charlton Mashumba, Cosmos never had the firepower to truly trouble Arrows, who enjoyed the freedom to edge a 1-0 advantage over their relegation-threatened opponents.Cosmos now face Maritzburg United on Saturday.Cosmos needed a victory to ensure their survival.Last night's result means the relegation battle between Cosmos, Maritzburg United and Pretoria University is going to the wire. Tuks' last game is against Arrows in Pretoria. With a game to go, a top three finish looked a real possibility for defending champions Kaizer Chiefs after they drew 2-2 with Free State Stars away at Goble Park and Platinum Stars suffered a 3-2 defeat against Bloemfontein Celtic at home.Orlando Pirates lie 7th after they were beaten 2-0 by Chippa United last night. Another slip-up when they play Supersport United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday might see them missing out on the top eight finish. ..
