Young motorbike competitor dies in hospital after weekend accident

The South African National Off Road Car Racing Association on Monday announced the death of a young rider‚ Ghislain van der Merwe‚ who sustained severe head injuries in an accident at the weekend."It is with great sadness that SANORA confirm the death of young Ghislain van der Merwe who sustained severe head injuries on the SACC Vryburg Race on Saturday‚ 2 April‚" the association's CEO Siegfried Rousseau said in a statement.According to a statement issued by the family‚ "Ghislain was taken off life support this morning following his accident on the weekend".SANORA and the motorcycle racing community extended their condolences to the Van Der Merwe family.The RAD-Moto company paid tribute to the young rider on Facebook‚ calling him "one of our own"."Ghislain Van Der Merwe you were a young‚ vibrant and talented young man who will be greatly missed. Our deepest condolences to Dean and Mel‚ you are in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Ghislain. Always remembered‚ never forgotten."..
