American Phinney joins BMC Racing
American prodigy Taylor Phinney has joined the BMC Racing team for next season, the American outfit said on Wednesday.
“Taylor Phinney will become part of the BMC Racing Team in 2011, joining the American team that already includes Cadel Evans, George Hincapie and Alessandro Ballan,” BMC said in a statement.
Phinney, who last week became US time trial champion at the age of 20, joined from Lance Armstrong’s RadioShack team, where he had been an apprentice since last month after riding for the seven-times Tour de France winner’s Trek-Livestrong feeder team.
Phinney claimed his second consecutive individual pursuit world championship gold medal and Under-23 Paris-Roubaix title.
