Local boxing man dies

Terry Pettifer, boxing author and publicist for Rodney Berman's Golden Gloves promotions, died on Sunday after suffering poor health the past few months. He was 59.

He worked with top local fighters including Baby Jake Matlala, Corrie Sanders, Vuyani Bungu, Sugarboy Malinga, Dingaan Thobela, Hawk Makepula and Namibian Harry Simon.

He was also involved in the staging of the world heavyweight title bout between Lennox Lewis and Hasim Rahman in South Africa.
