China’s Qiu Bo, diving almost to perfection, ensured the host nation completed a sweep of all 10 diving gold medals at the world swimming championships when he easily won the men’s 10-metres platform final on Sunday.
It was the first time a country had swept all of the diving titles at a world championships since the United States won all four titles on offer at Guayaquil in Ecuador in 1982.
Qiu, who scored several perfect 10s from the judges on his first three dives, finished on 585,45 points with David Boudia of the United States winning silver (544,25) while Sascha Klein of Germany took bronze on 534,50.
Britain’s Tom Daley, one of his country’s leading London 2012 Olympic hopes who won the world title two years ago in Rome at the age of 15, finished in fifth on 505,10 points.
