South Africa's world boxing champion Noni Tenge will soon get the chance to fight for a second title - against the woman they call the "Super Champ".

Tenge, who holds the International Boxing Federation's welterweight title, has been invited to challenge for the World Boxing Council version.

She would fight champion Cecilia Braekhus of Norway, who holds four world titles.

The invitation was made through one of the WBC board members, Peter Ngatane, and confirmed by Boxing SA official Loyiso Mtya.

Tenge's manager, S'Phato Handi, forwarded the invitation to promoter Branco Milenkovic, who said Tenge would first defend her IBF title before taking on a potential unification bout with Braekhus.

Tenge, 29, won the IBF title in June when she beat 39-year-old champion Daniella Smith of New Zealand with a stunning fifth-round knockout.

Braekhus, also 29, is unbeaten in 18 fights. She holds world welterweight titles in the WBA, WBC, WBO and WPBF.

She was born in Colombia but is a naturalised Norwegian, having been adopted as a two-year-old. She is based in Berlin and any fight against Tenge would probably take place in Germany.

Tenge will defend her title in East London in November.

Milenkovic, who promoted Tenge's last fight, has also arranged tomorrow's grudge match between Mexican WBO junior featherweight champion Jorge Arce and former IBF junior bantamweight champion Simphiwe Nongqayi.

Nongqayi beat the Mexican for the IBF title in Mexico two years ago.

Milenkovic said mini-flyweight Nkosinathi Joyi, flyweight Moruti Mthalane and junior featherweight Takalani Ndlovu - all IBF champions - would be in action before the end of the year.

"We have three offers for Takalani from Thailand, Mexico and Russia. We hope to make a decision next week and announce his opponent," he said.

Closer to home, the Golden Gloves tournament at Emperors Palace tomorrow offers six bouts that former world boxing champion Brian Mitchell said are all evenly matched.

The most eagerly awaited fight of the lot, however, is Chris van Heerden's welterweight bout against Kaizer Mabuza. If the bad blood between the two earlier this week was genuine, it could turn out to be a seriously bloody affair.

Hekkie Budler fights for the world title against Michael Landero of the Philippines for the vacant IBO strawweight belt.

Golden Gloves fighter Gideon Buthelezi will also be in action in Mexico tomorrow. He challenges WBC junior flyweight champion Adrian Hernandez.
