World 400m champion Wayde van Niekerk has been entered into South Africa’s 4x100m relay squad after all‚ a coach says. Van Niekerk is one of six athletes entered into the squad at the African championships in Durban this week.Sprint coach Hennie Kriel said the SA squad of six was Van Niekerk‚ SA 100m record-holder Akani Simbine‚ Thando Roto‚ Gift Leotlela‚ Antonio Alkana and Emile Erasmus. He didn’t say which four would run in the relay heats on Thursday evening.Van Niekerk‚ who has a 100m personal best of 9.98sec‚ has always been ambivalent about doing the relay. But his inclusion will boost a team missing two injured stars‚ Anaso Jobodwana and Henricho Bruintjies. The relay team is trying to qualify for the Rio Olympics where‚ if at full strength‚ they could challenge for a medal. - TMG Digital..
