Golden boy Wayde van Niekerk set to add more accolades to already overflowing trophy cabinet

Olympic 400m gold medallist Wayde van Niekerk leads the nomination pack for the Regional Annual Sport Awards (RASA) and is in line to win more accolades at the gala event to be held at Birchwood Hotel in Johannesburg on Saturday night.

Van Niekerk has been nominated in the Sports Person and Sports Man of the Year categories‚ which he won last year‚ while his coach Anna Botha is in line to win the Coach of the Year award.

Also expected to win at the function is 2016 Olympic Games 800m gold medalist Caster Semenya and she has been nominated in the Sports Woman of the Year categor. Ilse Hayes is a nominee in the Sports Woman of the year with a Disability category.
