Caster Semenya has been cleared to run as a woman, according to a news report.

e.tv is reporting that the IAAF, the governing body of world athletics, had given the 800m runner the thumbs up.

Semenya has not run competitively since winning the world championship in Berlin in August last year.

Semenya is scheduled to hold a news conference on Thursday to discuss the gender dispute, Sapa-AP reported.

A statement from Semenya's public relations advisers Wednesday said the 19-year-old runner would appear at a news conference hosted by minister of sport Makhenkesi Stofile.

Semenya's lawyers will also attend along with mediator Brian Currin, a South African civil and human rights lawyer.

The statement said the news conference would deal with "the outcomes of the Caster Semenya dispute".

Her dramatic improvement in times and muscular build led the IAAF to order gender verification tests.
