Crusaders to poach juniors

Craig Ray | 21 May, 2010 01:270 Comments

The Crusaders have come to South Africa, not only to beat the Bulls in the Super 14 semifinal, but to systematically poach the cream of South Africa's youth players.

Crusader's coach Todd Blackadder is returning to the country in July to set up a training camp in Pretoria to identify and recruit 60 best under-16 players.

The Crusaders, through a South African subsidiary called Players' Academies, have sent letters to top South African schools asking coaches to identify their best players for the camp.

"It is our request that you identify the two best under-16 players in each position at your institution and submit them for assessment," the letters state.

"The 60 best players from around the country will be selected on the basis of their performance and travel to Pretoria in July."
